Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram facing worldwide outage

There have been thousands of reports regarding the outage, for all three platforms.

PETALING JAYA — The Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram social media platforms appear to be facing a worldwide outage, driving local users to Twitter to vent their frustrations.

Twitter user @suhailisallehh had a message for the social media giant: “Dear Facebook, please don’t buy Twitter. Leave us one thing at least.”

According to the Facebook outage map on monitoring website downdetector.com, Malaysia is displayed as one of the many countries facing issues with the social media platform.

Facebook owns WhatsApp and Instagram.

According to the site, there have been thousands of reports regarding the outage, for all three platforms.

At time of writing on Sunday (April 14), attempts to access Facebook are met with an error message stating that the site cannot be reached.

Attempts to send and receive messages on WhatsApp have also proved futile, while Instagram feeds have failed to refresh upon multiple attempts.
