Zakir lodges report against Kula, Santiago, three others

CONTROVERSIAL preacher Zakir Naik has lodged a police report against Human Resources Minister M. Kulasegaran, Klang MP Charles Santiago and three other people.

The three included Penang Deputy Chief Minister II Dr P. Ramasamy, Bagan Dalam assemblyman Satees Muniandy and former ambassador Dennis J. Ignatius.

Zakir’s lawyer Datuk Akberdin Abdul Kader said the report was made at the Section 6 police station in Shah Alam on Friday (Aug 16).

Zakir claimed that the five made defamatory statements against him.

“Yes, we only managed to do so at Kula’s office today since it is a Friday, but we will do the rest next week, ” he said.

In the report, Zakir claimed that the said individuals had wrongly quoted him out of context on his reply to one of the questions posed to him after his speech on the topic “Misconceptions of Islam”.

“Clearly they had twisted and manipulated (it) to my disadvantage and to feed their mischievous own political agenda.

“They have manipulated my speech and accused me of creating communal disharmony when in actuality, they are the ones who have been instigating the public and inciting communal disharmony for their own political mileage, ” Zakir wrote in his police report.

He also urged the police to commence investigations against the five under the Penal Code and the Sedition Act.

When contacted, Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Baharudin Mat Taib confirmed that the report was lodged.
