ACCORDING to unofficial results from the Election Commission (EC), Barisan Nasional candidate Ramli Mohd Nor has won the Cameron Highlands by-election.

In a tweet at 6.54pm Saturday (January 26), the EC said that unofficial results showed that Barisan candidate Ramli had garnered 11,381 votes and Pakatan Harapan candidate M. Manogaran 7,182 votes.


Meanwhile, independent candidates Sallehudin Ab Talib had 295 votes and Wong Seng Yee had 226 votes.

The EC announced that as of 4pm, voter turnout was at 68%, which translates to 21,792 voters.

However, according to sources, the final voter turnout is about 71%.

This means that Barisan has surpassed 11,000 or more than 50% of the total possible votes.
